- K-Projects runs construction projects from the site: schedule, daily progress reports with photos, measurement book, RA bill abstracts, labour, contractors, materials, quality, safety and budget against actual.
- DPRs can be filled offline on the phone; measurements count only after a project manager checks them; money and acceptance always need a second person.
- Projects can start from a won tender (K-Tender), an approved survey BOQ (K-Survey) or a won deal (K-CRM), and site costs flow to K-Finance for review.
Three documents that decide whether a project makes money
For an Indian contractor working on government, PSU or private jobs, three documents carry much of the money:
- The daily progress report (DPR) shows what was done, by whom, and what held the work up. It is the evidence for extension of time and for paying labour and subcontractors.
- The measurement book (MB) records quantities against BOQ items. Nothing is billed that is not measured.
- The RA bill turns measured quantities into a running bill for the client, after deductions.
When the DPR is a WhatsApp photo, the MB a paper register and the RA bill an Excel file, the three drift apart. Quantities get billed twice or not at all, and hindrances are forgotten by the time an extension is argued.
Daily progress reports from the phone
Site engineers write the DPR on the phone: work done by activity, manpower by trade and contractor, machinery hours, hindrances and hours lost, notes and photos. The time each photo was taken is kept, and the GPS location if the engineer allows it. Without signal, the day's report can be filled offline and is sent when the connection returns; nothing is posted twice.
The office sees every running project on one dashboard: done against planned, days behind, open hindrances, sites with no DPR in 2 days, and milestones due in the next 14 days. Site engineers get an email when yesterday's DPR is missing. Hindrances and hours lost, recorded day by day, support an extension-of-time claim later; see extension of time and the hindrance register.
Measurement book with a manager check
Each entry is Nos × L × B × D or a direct quantity per BOQ item, with deductions for openings. An entry counts only after a project manager checks it. When measured quantity passes the BOQ quantity, a variation warning shows. The BOQ itself can be imported from CSV; rows with problems (text in a quantity, an amount that is not quantity × rate) are listed by row number before anything is imported.
RA bill abstracts
For any period, K-Projects shows previous, this-bill and up-to-date quantities and amounts at BOQ rates, ready to print or export for the client bill. If you also use K-Tender to manage the contract, download the abstract as a CSV file and import it into the client RA bill there; deductions, GST and recoveries are added in K-Tender, not in K-Projects. To check deductions by hand, use the RA bill deductions calculator; the method is in preparing an RA bill from the measurement book.
Labour, contractors and materials
Labour and wages
A worker register by trade and contractor, daily attendance with time in and out, overtime and GPS on the in-mark, or head counts for gangs. Wage sheets come from attendance with advances and deductions, approved by a second person, and print as a muster roll and register of wages, with a BOCW cess register. Supervisors without e-mail can sign in with a field login (organisation code, employee code and a PIN on their own phone).
Subcontractors and work orders
Work orders with rates, retention and advance terms; progress updates with photos; checked measurements; running bills with GST, TDS 194C, retention and advance recovery; payments and what is still owed. A change to a contractor's bank details waits until a second person approves it.
Materials, stores and plant
Indents, purchase orders and goods received with the challan photo; issues to work, site stock, stock counts and reorder alerts; and a cement and steel reconciliation of theoretical against issued, with wastage. Own and hired machines get a daily log of hours, idle time, fuel and breakdowns, with monthly hire statements.
Quality and safety
Checklists for pre-pour, reinforcement, brickwork, waterproofing, MEP and handover; inspections with photos and a second-person sign-off; NCRs and snag lists through to closure; cube tests with 7- and 28-day due dates. Safety covers toolbox talks, observations, incidents with investigation sign-off, permits to work for hot work, height and excavation, PPE issue, and LTIFR from the man-hours worked.
Budget against actual
Every purchase order, goods receipt, wage sheet, contractor bill, hire statement and site expense lands in one cost ledger per budget head: budget, committed, spent, forecast at completion and margin. Earned value, SPI, CPI and an S-curve show schedule and cost together. A gaps report lists what needs attention on each project: late activities, missing DPRs or attendance, stock below reorder level, unpaid bills, overdue NCRs and tests, heads over budget.
Approved contractor bills, goods received, site expenses and paid payment-sheet lines go to K-Finance's review queue, every 15 minutes, so accounts do not retype them. Nothing posts until a person in finance accepts it, unless the K-Finance owner has chosen to let documents already approved by a second person post by themselves.
Where a project starts
- From a tender won in K-Tender, with its BOQ and milestones.
- From an approved survey BOQ in K-Survey, with site facts and observations in the notes. See site survey to BOQ in one flow.
- From a won deal in K-CRM.
- Or created directly, as a contract project (BOQ, MB, RA abstracts) or an own development project (budget heads and phases such as towers or blocks).
Summaries without retyping
If your admin switches on on-server AI, K-Projects can summarise a DPR or the last seven days and explain a gap with next steps. Figures come from the records, filled in by the app; the AI writes only the words. The model runs on our own server in India, and nothing is sent to an outside AI company.
Roles and control
Managers, site engineers who see only their projects, and read-only viewers. Only project managers check measurements, reopen a locked DPR, or change the BOQ and schedule. Every change is logged with who and when, in an audit log linked as a hash chain. Photos and drawings are stored only in your organisation's own Google Drive or OneDrive (folder 06 - K-Projects); until a drive is connected, uploads are refused.
Is it a fit?
K-Projects is built for civil and sports-infrastructure contractors and builders running their own projects. Its schedule is activities with planned dates, weights and progress by % or by BOQ quantity. If your planners already run a dedicated scheduling tool for a large programme, they can keep it and use K-Projects for the site records, cost and billing. It is new and changing quickly, so tell us what your sites need.
Common questions
Can site engineers fill the DPR without mobile signal?
Yes. The day's report, with photos, can be filled offline. The phone sends it when the connection is back, and nothing is posted twice.
Can I import my BOQ from Excel?
Yes. Save the sheet as CSV and import it. Rows with a problem are listed by row number, and nothing is imported until you choose to import the good rows.
Who can change measurements?
Site engineers write measurements on their assigned projects. An entry counts only after a project manager checks it, and every change is recorded in an audit log.
