- K-Finance is a finance operations workspace for Indian SMEs: books with an edit log, GST working per GSTIN, TDS mapped to the Income-tax Act 2025 codes, payroll, treasury, imports and exports, and a daily task view.
- A read-only Tally connector brings TallyPrime or Tally.ERP 9 masters and the Day Book into a Migration Center, where you check them before anything posts.
- It prepares and checks GST and TDS working. You still file on the government portals.
Why "GST-ready" is about working papers, not just invoices
Most accounting packages used in India can raise a GST invoice. The hard part of GST for a growing SME is everything after the invoice: building GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B for each registration, matching GSTR-2B against the purchase book, tracking branch transfers between your own GSTINs, and lining up the year for GSTR-9 and 9C. In many firms that work lives in spreadsheets rebuilt every month, and that is where differences creep in.
K-Finance builds that working from the books, so the return and the ledger come from the same records.
GST in K-Finance
- GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B working per GSTIN, prepared from issued invoices and the books. Credit and debit notes are kept with the invoice they relate to.
- Multi-GSTIN and branch (ISD) ledgers, with inter-unit inventory movements, for companies registered in several states.
- GSTR-2B reconciliation against the purchase books: matched invoices, amount differences, credit missing from 2B and invoices missing from your books. The 2B file is read in your browser; only the reconciliation you save is stored.
- Annual reconciliation that lines up returns with the books for GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C preparation, with a view of figures that do not agree.
- E-way bills tracked against invoices.
Nothing is filed from the app. The working is prepared and checked here; you file on the GST portal. More detail: GST returns and reconciliation. For a one-off check without signing in, the free GSTR-2B reconciliation tool runs in your browser.
TDS under the Income-tax Act 2025
From the new Act, TDS sections moved to payment codes. K-Finance tracks deductions, challans and returns, consolidates Form 16, and maps each deduction to the 2025 Act codes alongside the old 1961 sections. It is the same mapping that powers the free TDS code finder. Background: TDS payment codes under the Income-tax Act 2025.
The Tally connector
Many SMEs keep Tally because the accountant knows it and the CA expects its reports. You do not have to move off it to use K-Finance.
How it works
- An owner or admin opens the connect page in K-Finance, chooses the company and creates a connector token. The token is shown once.
- On the PC that runs TallyPrime or Tally.ERP 9, a PowerShell script is set up with that token and scheduled (every 30 minutes in the help guide's steps).
- The script reads masters and the Day Book and sends them to K-Finance's Migration Center.
- There you check and fix ledger groupings (Schedule III groups are suggested), read a dry run of what will post, commit, and reconcile source totals with K-Finance totals before signing off.
What it will not do
- It only reads from Tally. It never writes to Tally and never asks for Tally passwords.
- Sending the same data again changes nothing; rows are matched by their identity in Tally.
- A migration can be reverted: the vouchers are reversed and you can commit again.
Sales, purchase, receipt, payment, journal, contra and credit or debit notes come over; orders, delivery notes and memorandum vouchers do not. If you prefer not to run a script, export XML from Tally by hand and upload it. Zoho Books, Busy, Vyapar, Marg and Excel go through the same Migration Center. Step-by-step: move your books from Tally to K-Finance. Note that importing books is part of the paid plans; the Free plan shows a trial-balance preview.
Payroll, treasury and month-end
- Payroll with statutory deductions. When K-HR is linked, the month's attendance, leave and overtime arrive for review, and K-Finance works out PF, ESI, PT, LWF, bonus, gratuity and the pay.
- Treasury: bank statement review and coding, reconciliation with evidence, receivables and cash positions.
- Imports and exports with multi-currency transactions and remittance tracking against FEMA timelines.
- Controls: an edit log on posted entries, maker-checker approvals, an audit trail with daily signed anchors, and an audit pack for year-end.
- My Day: one daily task list across all of the above.
Where entries come from: the review queue
In a construction or trading company, a lot of accounting entries start somewhere else. K-Finance accepts them from other Khanal apps into one review queue:
- From K-Projects: approved contractor bills (with GST, TDS 194C, retention and advance recovery), goods received, site expenses and paid payment-sheet lines.
- From K-Logistics: sales invoices and purchase bills with credit days, and payments.
Records arrive every 15 minutes and wait. By default nothing reaches the books until a person in finance accepts it. An owner can switch on automatic posting for a link; even then, only records approved by a checker in the source app post on arrival. That keeps the accountant in charge of the ledger, while saving the retyping. Separately, K-Finance can pull receivables and bank guarantees from K-Tender with a key for your workspace.
For CA firms and multi-company groups
Each client or group company is a separate organisation with its own team; members of one cannot see another's data. Plans differ by the number of companies and users. Documents go to your own Google Drive or OneDrive through connected storage, and you can export your organisation's data at any time. See K-Finance for CA firms.
Is it a fit?
K-Finance suits SMEs with several GSTINs, import or export activity, or project-based costs, and finance teams that want the working papers and the books in one place. If you are a small single-GSTIN trader happy with your current package, the extra structure may not pay off yet. K-Finance is in beta, so check that the modules you need are ready on the product page, or start on the Free plan, which has no time limit.
