K-Survey

Invite your team and choose roles in K-Survey

K-Survey has five roles. Office staff sign in with e-mail and two-step verification and can hold any role. Field staff sign in on their phone with a PIN and are surveyors only.

What you need

  • The Organisation admin role in K-Survey
  • The e-mail address of each office person you invite
  • For field staff: their name and employee code (the same code as in K-HR, if you use it)
  • For field logins: your organisation linked to Khanal ID

Invite an office person

  1. Click your name, then Team.
  2. Under Invite someone, type the e-mail.
  3. Choose the role: Organisation admin, Survey manager, Estimator / QS, Surveyor / site engineer or Viewer.
  4. Click Send invitation. The link is valid for 7 days.
  5. Ask the person to open the link, sign in with Khanal ID using that e-mail and click Accept invitation.

Create a field login for a surveyor

  1. On Team, go to Field staff.
  2. Type the name and the employee code, for example E102.
  3. Click Create field login.
  4. Give the person the activation code or let them scan the QR. It is shown once and works once, on their phone, for 72 hours.
  5. Ask them to open khanals.in/staff/activate, type the code and choose a 6-digit PIN. They then sign in at khanals.in/staff.
  6. Assign surveys to them as usual.

Change a role or suspend someone

  1. On Team, find the person in the list.
  2. Choose the new role or set the status to Suspended.
  3. Click Save.

Good to know

  • Organisation admin: everything, including team, plan, settings and the links. Survey manager: every site and survey, assigns, reviews, makes amendments and approves BOQs. Estimator / QS: prepares BOQs and rates and keeps the library. Surveyor / site engineer: only the surveys assigned to them. Viewer: reads only.
  • A BOQ is approved by someone other than the person who sent it for review.
  • For a field login the list shows the phones with Reset PIN, Remove phone, Remove from K-Survey and Turn off (every Khanal app). See Field staff PIN login.

Common errors

"A field login (PIN on a phone) can only be a surveyor here."

Field logins are for surveyors only. For a survey manager, estimator, viewer or admin, invite the person with their e-mail.

"Field logins need this organisation linked to Khanal ID (Your organisations)."

Link your K-Survey organisation to its Khanal organisation first, then try again.

"That person is already a member."

Change their role in the list instead of inviting again.

"Your plan allows 25 team members. Ask for a bigger plan on the Billing page to add more."

The trial allows 25 members. Suspend people who have left or request a plan on Plan & billing.

A surveyor cannot see a survey

Surveyors see only surveys assigned to them. A manager opens the survey, clicks Schedule / assign and chooses them as Surveyor.
