Account and sign-in
Sign in with Khanal ID and set up two-step verification
One Khanal ID opens every Khanal Group app. This article shows how to create it, sign in with your email, password and an authenticator code, and what to do if you lose your phone or password.

What you need
- Your work email address
- A password of at least 10 characters
- A phone with an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator
- About five minutes
Create your Khanal ID
- Open khanals.in/signup, or click Create a free account on the sign-in page.
- Type your Full name and Work email.
- Type a password of at least 10 characters. It cannot be your email address.
- Tick the box to agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- Click Create account. Khanal ID now asks you to set up two-step verification (next section).
- Open the email Verify your Khanal ID email and click the link. The link works for 3 days.
- On Tell us about your company, type your company or firm name, and GSTIN or PAN if you want. Every app you open starts with these details.
- Choose the app you want to open first, or Just show me all the apps.
Set up two-step verification
- Install Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator on your phone. An authenticator app you already use also works.
- In the app, tap + and scan the QR code on the Secure your account page.
- If you cannot scan, type the key shown under the code into the app.
- Type the 6-digit code the app shows in 6-digit code from the app.
- Click Turn on.
- Copy the 10 recovery codes to a safe place. Each code works once. They are not shown again.
- Click I have saved them — continue.
- Open khanals.in/login, or click Sign in in any Khanal app.
- Type your Email and Password, then click Sign in.
- On Verify it’s you, type the current 6-digit code from your authenticator app.
- Click Verify. You land on your apps, or back in the app you came from.
Reset a forgotten password
- Click Forgot password? on the sign-in page.
- Type your email and click Send reset link.
- Open the email Reset your Khanal ID password within 1 hour and click the link.
- Type a new password of at least 10 characters and click Save password. You are signed out of every device.
- Sign in again with the new password and your authenticator code.
Sign in with a passkey (fingerprint, face or Windows Hello)
- Sign in once as usual, then open khanals.in/account.
- Under Passkeys, type a name such as Office laptop and click Add a passkey. If you signed in more than 15 minutes ago, type the current code from your authenticator app too.
- Confirm with your fingerprint, face, Windows Hello or the device PIN. You get an email that a passkey was added.
- Next time, click Sign in with a passkey on the sign-in page, or pick the passkey your browser offers in the Email field. No password or code is asked: the passkey counts as both steps.
- On Verify it’s you you can also click Use a passkey instead of typing the code.
- To stop using one, click Remove next to it under Passkeys. Your authenticator app and recovery codes keep working.
Email me a sign-in link
- On the sign-in page, click Email me a sign-in link.
- Type the email of your Khanal ID and click Email me a sign-in link.
- Open the email Your Khanal ID sign-in link within 15 minutes and click the link, then Continue. Each link works once.
- Type the code from your authenticator app, or use your passkey. The link replaces only your password.
Trust this device for 30 days
- An owner or admin of your organisation opens Organisation, then Sign-in security, and clicks Turn on. It is off until they do.
- On Verify it’s you, tick Trust this device for 30 days before you click Verify.
- For 30 days that browser asks only for your password, not the code. The password is always asked.
- See and end trusted browsers under Trusted devices at khanals.in/account. Changing your password, Sign out everywhere, or the admin turning the setting off also ends them.
- If you belong to more than one organisation, every one of them must have it on.
Manage your account and sessions
- Open khanals.in/account to see Your Khanal ID and how many recovery codes are left.
- Click Generate new recovery codes when few are left. The old codes stop working.
- Click Move to a new authenticator app when you change phones, and scan the new code with the new phone.
- Use Change password to set a new password. Your other devices are signed out.
- To sign out, open khanals.in/logout and click Sign out everywhere. This signs you out of Khanal ID and every Khanal app on all your devices.
Good to know
- Two-step verification is required. No app opens until it is set up.
- A sign-in lasts up to 7 days, and ends after 12 hours without use.
- If the sign-in page shows Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft, you can use that instead of a password. The authenticator code is still asked after it.
- A passkey, an email sign-in link and a trusted device are optional. Your authenticator app and recovery codes stay the fallback.
- Staff without email sign in differently, with a PIN on their own phone. See Field staff PIN login.
Common errors
"That code did not work. Use the current 6-digit code from your authenticator app, or a recovery code."
Type the code that the app shows right now, not an old one. If it still fails, check that your phone's date and time are set automatically. If you lost your phone, type one of your recovery codes in the same box.
I lost my phone and my recovery codes
Write from your account email to hello@khanals.in. Khanal Group must check that it is you before two-step verification can be set up again.
"Email or password is incorrect."
Check the email for typing mistakes and try the password again. If you do not remember it, click Forgot password?.
"Too many attempts"
Several wrong tries were made. For your security, wait 15 minutes and try again.
Apps show Verify email first
Open the verification email and click the link. If it did not arrive, check spam, then click Resend email on your apps page.
"That email already has a Khanal ID. Sign in, or use "Forgot password"."
You or your organisation already created a Khanal ID with this email. Sign in, or reset the password.
Still stuck?
Email hello@khanals.in with the app name, what you clicked and the exact message you saw. Do not send passwords, PINs or authenticator codes. You can also use the contact page.
